I have made a small revision to the CP assignment, in order to address some student needs. Many folks have expressed the desire for some sort of thesis or prompt or more defined claim for them to use when writing. Please feel free to use either of these options to help guide and structure your paper and your research.
Option 1: Did [your topic] contribute to our current political landscape and conflict around issues of race?
Option 2: Consider the word "Reconstruction." Was the purpose of [your topic] in this era to break down systems of racial oppression OR were we just reorganizing society to make racial oppression more palatable or acceptable?
Homework: Please complete at least 2 paragraphs of your essay (more will help you if you're able!).
